AYURVEDIC THERAPIST LEVEL 2

This training program goes a step further and aims at specialized therapies in Ayurveda. It helps therapists undertake therapies that are more intensive and focused for specific needs.

Pindasveda - Ayurvedic Bolus Therapy

Using special bolus filled with medicated grains, warm oil is massaged all over the body. This is a very effective technique especially for removing stiffness from the muscles and joints. It is an intensive form of Abhyanga as the medicated bolus with the grains and herbs enable the oils to penetrate deeper into the tissues. This therapy is highly therapeutic and rejuvenative in itself as improves blood circulation, clears away wastes from the body, strengthens digestion, enhances complexion and promotes sound sleep.

Training involves preparing the oils and bolus for the therapy, the appropriate temperature of the oil, correct positioning and techniques of application for different areas of the body.

Kattivasti – Ayurvedic Lower BackTherapy

A treatment system that focuses on the lower back, Kattivasti serves to release blockages in the spine, nourish the nervous system as well as harmonize the Doshas.

The treatment begins with placing kneaded dough as a round enclosure or “well” on the lower back, and then filling it with warm medicated oils. The oil is then gradually removed. Even though this therapy is conducted in a specific area of the body, it has an amazing effect on the overall functioning of the body.

Areas of training include preparation, positioning, temperature control, removal of oils as well as pre and post Kattivasti massage techniques.

Ayurvedic Medicated Scrub

Medicated powders are applied in a particular direction all over the body in this Ayurvedic regimen. This is especially done to clear the lymphatic system as well as minor skin eruptions on the body. It has a very cleaning and detoxifying effect as it opens up the sweat glands and activates the enzymes in the skin.

Training involves preparing the scrubs with appropriate amounts of the herbs and liquids, application of the scrub effectively and clearing the medicated scrub after application.

Ayurvedic Face Therapy

This is a sequence of cleansing and rejuvenating the face with Ayurvedic scrubs (ubtans), medicated oil, steam, and ayurvedic packs. Special mild herbs and oils are used for the face, as it is a sensitive and important area of the body. Massage techniques focus on the face “Marmas”, improving circulation in the face area, calming the nerves involved, clearing away excess skin deposits, and rejuvenating the entire face.

Step by step guidance and training is provided to ensure effective preparation, application and removal techniques.

Ayurvedic Fomentation

Fomentation or use of steam has always been a part of most ancient healing systems. Ayurveda employs fomenation for relieving stiffness and eliminating wastes from the body tissues. Special herbs are used along with specific application. Fomentation has multiple benefits as it opens up tissue adhesions thus reviving the body’s normal flow of energy through the bodily systems.

Effective preparation and application techniques are the prime focus in this training.

Applied Ayurveda (Case Studies)
On completion of the training, students are required to complete five case studies. This provides the necessary confidence to select and conduct Advanced Ayurvedic therapies independently and effectively. Case studies are discussed in class, thereby widening the knowledge and experience of all students.
